CITY LIFE, AN ICONIC OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

Born as a result of the urban redevelopment of a former exhibition center, CityLife is the brand new district that in a short time has become one of the most iconic and avant-garde residential and commercial complexes in Milan. A place where modernity, eco-sustainability and large green spaces come together.
It is impossible not to be fascinated by its imposing skyscrapers and extravagant shapes that seem to catapult us into a futuristic world, whose emblem are the famous Three Towers: Isozaki, Hadid and Libeskind, better known as the “Straight, the Crooked and the Curved” as the locals like to call them.
And it is right next to Piazza Tre Torri that, thanks to the ArtLine project, a collection of original works of art created by national and international artists has been installed that will leave you speechless.
Let’s take a look at some of the most beloved and instagrammed works.
“COLORIS” by Pascale Marthine Tayou
A planisphere on which are planted a hundred colored metal poles on top of which is placed an egg. The work symbolizes the welcome and brotherhood between the different ethnic groups present in the city.
“Philemon and Baucis” by Ornaghi and Prestinari
The protagonists of this installation are 2 aluminum columns that observe the skyscrapers while they romantically hold each other at arm’s length, symbolizing the coexistence of past and modern architecture.
“The Skies of Bellovaso” by Matteo Rubbi
Over 100 stone stars of different colors set in the pavement of Piazza Burri. The work is a reference to the starry sky of 600 B.C., the year in which the foundation of Milan by Prince Bellovaso is placed, and alludes to the urban development that has gradually obscured the stars.
“Hand and foot” by Judith Hopf
2 large sculptures, depicting a hand and a foot, positioned at a short distance.
City Life and its works are only 15 minutes by subway from Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale.
